About the Provider
Meet Petra Erskin DNP, APN, PMHNP-BC
Hello, I’m Petra Erskin, a Doctorally Prepared, Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for women across every stage of life.
My journey into psychiatric care was shaped by years of experience supporting women and families during some of life’s most meaningful and transformative experiences. Throughout my nursing career, I have cared for women during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and the transition into motherhood. These experiences provided a unique perspective on the emotional, physical, and psychological challenges women often face while balancing family responsibilities, career demands, relationships, and personal well-being.
As I cared for women across diverse healthcare settings, I witnessed firsthand how anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, reproductive life events, and major life transitions can significantly affect overall health and quality of life. I also saw how frequently women place the needs of others before their own, often delaying care until symptoms become overwhelming. These experiences inspired me to pursue advanced psychiatric training and dedicate my practice to women’s mental health.
I earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Capella University and completed my Post-Master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate through the University of Cincinnati, where I received advanced training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy modalities, and evidence-based treatment of mental health conditions across the lifespan. I am board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Today, I provide personalized telepsychiatric care for women experiencing anxiety, depression, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, stress, burnout, and life transitions. My approach combines clinical expertise with compassionate, patient-centered care that recognizes each woman’s unique experiences, goals, and circumstances.
I believe mental health care should feel collaborative, supportive, and personalized. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where women feel heard, respected, and empowered to actively participate in their care. Together, we develop thoughtful treatment plans designed to support emotional wellness, resilience, and long-term mental health.
It is my privilege to partner with women as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward greater balance, confidence, and well-being.
My Philosophy of Care
I believe that true mental wellness cannot be achieved through a one-size-fits-all prescription pad. Women possess unique biological, hormonal, and psychological landscapes that require highly nuanced, specialized care.
My approach seamlessly blends evidence-based psychopharmacology with supportive psychotherapy and holistic lifestyle modifications. Together, we look at the whole picture—from your thyroid and reproductive health to your stress levels and personal goals—to co-create a treatment roadmap that empowers you to thrive.
